Course Description: This course will review the core clinical aspects and skills for work with drug and/or alcohol issues in a clinical outpatient setting.  The topics which will be addressed include:  Genetics of addiction, Assessment and Diagnosis, Interventions to utilize, Referral base and treatment options (including medications), the Internet and addiction, and special considerations for Dual Diagnosis cases.  The focus of this course will be on practical information and interventions and the application of research in the outpatient practice.  This course welcomes the seasoned therapist as well as the novice, as class participation and discussion will be encouraged.

About the Trainer: Dr. David Lott completed his undergraduate training at Duke University in North Carolina.  Before entering medical training, he worked for two years as a school teacher on Chicago’s West Side. After medical school at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD, he started his psychiatric training, completing first a residency at The University of Chicago and then a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at The University of Illinois at Chicago. He is board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry, and now works as Medical Director of the Chemical Dependency Program at Linden Oaks Hospital in Naperville. In addition, he has been involved in several addiction research projects and maintains a research appointment at The University of Chicago Department of Psychiatry

Continuing Education Hours: This program is recognized as providing 6 CE’s for: LPC/LCPC, LSW/LCSW. CEUs through IAODAPCA have been applied for.

Confirmations / Directions: Upon receipt of the registration form, we will mail or email a confirmation letter including location and directions. There will be no confirmations sent for registrations received one week or less prior to the workshop.

Refund Policy: Registrations cancelled before one week prior to the workshop will be refunded their cost minus a $25 administrative fee. Registration can be applied to another available training date, based on availability. There are no refunds within one week of the training.
