About The Training: The ability to manage a clinical practice includes knowledge of the latest laws and guidelines from the Department of Professional Regulation. This course will address risk prevention and practice improvement for the clinician. Sandra brings her rich experience as an attorney as well as social work background to this topic. This six hour course will review social work and clinical ethics, licensing, and professional liability, and meets the 3-hour Ethics Training Requirement for license renewal for LSW’s and LCSW’s. The course content will include:
- Code of Ethics.
- Overview of Confidentiality and Privileged Communications.
- Reporting requirements.
- Practice restrictions and limitations.
- Informed consent and record keeping.
- Professional boundaries and professional liability insurance issues.
About The Trainer: Sandra G. Nye, JD, MSW holds a JD from De Paul University College of Law and an MSW from Loyola University School of Social Work, and is principal of The Law Offices of Nye and Associates, Ltd. in Chicago. Ms. Nye concentrates in the law of human service delivery and family law, consulting and practicing before administrative agencies and in the courts. Former professional posts include Director of Child and Family Law and Psychiatry, Institute for Juvenile Research; Asst. Professor of Jurisprudence in Psychiatry, University of Illinois Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine; Director of the Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission; instructor and lecturer at the Family Institute, University of Chicago Graduate School of Social Service Administration, and the University of Illinois Jane Addams School of Social work. She has held offices and chairmanships in legal and human service professional associations, participated in drafting mental health, child protection and confidentiality legislation, lectures nationally and has authored books, chapters, and numerous articles on the law of families and clinical practice.
Continuing Education Hours: This program is recognized as providing 6 CE’s for: LPC/LCPC, LSW/LCSW.
Confirmations: Upon receipt of the registration form, we will mail or email a confirmation letter within one week. This will confirm the training selected, date, and directions to the training.
Locations: The Warrenville training will be held at Linden Oaks Training Center: 27555 Diehl Road, Warrenville, IL (enter through door “G”). Parking is available free of charge.
Times: The times of trainings are the same for both locations and all dates: The trainings will begin registration at 8:30 a.m. The course will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Lunch will be on your own.
Cost: $135.00
Registration Deadlines: Registrations should be received one week prior to the training date. Registrations received less than one week prior to the training date will not receive a written confirmation. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
Refund Policy: Registrations cancelled at least one week prior to the training date will be refunded at their cost minus a $25 administrative fee. Registration fees can be applied to future training dates based on availability. There are no refunds within one week of the training. Cost includes CEU’s, morning and afternoon refreshments, handouts and other training materials. Lunch is on your own.
