This course combines one section of online training as well as one day of on-site training. Attendees will complete the online section of the course before attending the onsite section.
Who Should Attend: This course is designed for licensed clinicians who desire to incorporate crisis intervention services in the workplace. Successfully completing this course will enable clinicians to meet Crisis Care Network’s one day on-site training criteria for qualification as a CCN Specialist and open up new income potential.
Online Course: This course is designed to provide attendees with a video enhanced overview of how the evidence-informed Psychological First Aid approach may be applied to the workplace and addresses the unique aspects of the provider’s role with the employer client. The course will include:
- The latest research and best practices in critical incident response.
- The client relationship as it relates to serving employers.
- What we have learned about resiliency and PTSD.
- Overview of Psychological First Aid (PFA) Guidelines.
- How to conduct Individual, small and large group briefings in the workplace.
Onsite Course: The onsite section builds on the best practices literature reviewed in the online section, and provides a comprehensive overview of how to deliver critical incident response services in the workplace. It will cover trends in the nature and frequency of critical incidents in the workplace; how to incorporate psychological first aid principles to organizations, individuals, and workgroups; how to organize responses to incidents in the workplace; exercising cultural competency in the context of response to mass disasters; and how to promote resiliency and self care. This program covers:
- Overview of the trends in the occurrence of critical incidents.
- Understanding how to serve in a consulting role.
- Strategies for critical incident response for individual, small and large groups.
- Mass disaster and cultural competency.
- Promoting resiliency and self care.
Online Section: Attendees may log in and out of the online course and complete at their own pace. Each chapter is followed by review questions to assist the attendee in learning the material. The course concludes with a 10 item test. The attendee must successfully pass the test in order to qualify for a course completion certificate and CEU’s. The attendee may retake the test as needed. Attendees will need a working email address in order to take the online portion. You must have high speed internet access to complete the online course.
Trainer for the Onsite Section: Rod Ogilvie LCPC, CRADC, is the Director of Crisis Management Services & Training for Associates in Professional Counseling & Coaching. He presented regional training seminars to colleges and universities in 2007 as a member of the instructor team with the Illinois Campus Security Task Force. He has completed advanced training in Critical Incident Stress Management through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, and is an approved instructor for their Group, Individual and Pastoral Crisis Intervention courses. Rod also is a trainer and provider for Crisis Care Network, the world’s largest provider of crisis intervention services to the workplace. He has been involved in numerous critical incident situations involving suicide, accidental deaths, abuse, robberies and other situations where CISM strategies were implemented. Rod has been utilized as a trainer for large corporations, schools, colleges and universities and hospitals. He is an active member on the Northern Illinois Critical Incident Stress Management team, providing services to first responder groups. Mr. Ogilvie obtained his Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College Graduate School in 1990. He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor as well as a certified addictions counselor.
Continuing Education Credits: The Best Practices in Critical Incident Response for the Workplace will award a total of 10 CEU<s for LPC/LCPC, LSW/LCSW, & LMFT, for completion of the online and onsite sections.
Confirmations: Upon receipt of the registration form, we will mail or email a confirmation letter within one week. This will confirm the training selected, date, and directions to the training.
Registration Deadlines: Registrations should be received one week prior to the training date. Registrations received less than one week prior to the training date will not receive a written confirmation. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
Cost: $250.00
Cash and Refund Policy: The cost for the online and onsite course is $250. Registrations cancelled at least one week prior to the training date will be refunded at their cost minus a $25 administrative fee. Registration fees can be applied to future training dates based on availability. There are no refunds within one week of the training. Cost includes online and onsite course, CEU’s, morning and afternoon refreshments, handouts and other training materials. Lunch is on your own.
