If you are going to be successful in your attempt the quit smoking it is important to identify why it is important to you. Each smoker has his or her own personal reasons:
For your health
According to the Surgeon General quitting smoking is the single most important step a smoker can take to improve the health and quality of their lives. As soon as you quit smoking your body begins to repair the damage caused by smoking. Earlier is always better but even smokers who quit later in life can improve their health.
To save money
With state and local taxes continuing to soar a pack of cigarettes can cost. Even if a pack costs “only” $5.00 where you live, smoking one pack a day adds up to more than $2,000 per year. Smokers currently pay increased premiums for life insurance, individual health insurance, etc.
To decrease your aggravation
It is becoming less convenient to smoke. More states and cities are passing clean indoor air laws that make it illegal to smoke in bars, restaurants, and other public places. Are you tired of having to use your breaks at work to go outside and smoke? Is standing in the cold and rain really worth it?
Second hand smoke
Cigarette smoke is harmful to anyone who inhales it, not just the smoker. Children of smokers experience more chest colds and ear infections. Even if you are a healthy adult you can experience negative effects as a result of exposure to second hand smoke.
